About Cilento Food Tours

Cilento is the area immediately south of the Amalfi Coast in the Campania region. It is most famous for the temples of Paestum, built by Greek colonists nearly 3,000 years ago. Its beautiful beaches and clean water are considered among the cleanest beaches in Europe. Cilento is also famous for the best buffalo mozzarella in Italy and for being the birthplace of the Mediterranean Diet. Cilento is a Blue Zone with a large concentration of centenarians who continue to be studied by scientists around the world.

After a decade of hosting weeklong food and wine tours via Feast Travel, Cilento Food Tours was born to introduce more people to this hidden gem, which remains close to zones of mass tourism but, gratefully, just beyond its reach.

Mario Stellato

Mario is the chef of Pietre at Borgo La Pietraia. He learned to cook from his grandmother and then worked at two Michelin-starred restaurants, including Aria in Naples. Mario is in daily contact with the farmers, fishermen, and foragers of Cilento and makes the world's best bread.

Arianna Scariati

Arianna studied in London and Tokyo, but returned home to Cilento where she and her sister own and operate Borgo La Pietraia. Arianna is also a travel agent and oversees all the details of Cilento Food Tours, customizing each tour for our clients and making sure they run smoothly.

Danielle Oteri

Danielle grew up in New York, but was always deeply connected to Cilento through her Nonna Scariati. She is an art historian and worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 16 years. She runs Feast Travel and writes the newsletter Tante Belle Cose.
